WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE LOST OR FOUND AN ANIMAL
1. Post signs/pictures in the area where animals were found or last seen.
2. Call all local veterinary offices to inquire if anyone has any knowledge
about this animal. Post signs/pictures at veterinary offices.
3. Call all local animal control offices, not just where the animal was
lost or found. They are required by law to hold your animal for
3 days only. Make sure to check with them daily if you are looking
for a lost pet.
4. Put an ad in the local newspaper (Highlander, Picayune). These papers
have been known to post this information for free or reduced prices.
Contact each newspaper for more information.
5. Email Highland Lakes SPCA at lynn@highlandlakesspca.org and we will
be happy to post the information and picture on our website at no
cost.
We HIGHLY recommend you microchip your animals to make sure it will
find its way home should it ever get lost. We can microchip your animal
at the shelter for $20 and do all the registration and paperwork for you.
If you would like to schedule an appointment to have your animal chipped
call HLSCPA at 830-596-2717. We have microchip clinics in other area
locations from time to time so give a call or watch our website for more
information. The more animals who can find their way home, the fewer
we have to re-home, and the more we can save from animal control.
